terms and conditions 

Last updated on June 4, 2019. These Terms and Conditions are effective immediately for consumers ordering from Sweetwood Bakery as of June 4, 2019 and will become effective July 4, 2019 for preexisting orders.

1. Order Confirmation:

The consumer's order and our confirmation serve as a contractual agreement between Sweetwood Bakery and the end user. The consumer is responsible for reviewing the accuracy and completeness of their order. Once both parties agree on the design and the details, an invoice will be sent finalizing the order. 

A. Changes in Design. A change in design is possible provided that the changes are submitted at least  2 weeks prior to the event date. 

i. Not every alteration can be made and Sweetwood Bakery reserves the right to refuse any suggested accommodation.

ii. Changes made will influence price i.e. opting for a premium flavor over a standard flavor will increase price and vice versa. 

B. Change of Event Date. Moving your scheduled event date is possible provided the newly desired date is later than the previously held date. 

i. Date change requests are subject to availability and may be rejected based on prior customer bookings. 

C. Cancellations. Sweetwood allows for cancellations provided the customer gives ample amount of time for Sweetwood to respond. 

i. A two week or greater notification of a cancellation will result in a 100% refund.

ii. A one week notification will result in a 50% refund.

iii. Less than a week notice will result in a non-refund, or Sweetwood management decision.

2. Type of Event:

A. Wedding Event. Wedding events must be booked at least 2 months prior to the intended date. A 50% deposit is required to save your wedding date and the full payment is required no later than 2 weeks before the event. It is possible to pay the entire fee up front when you secure your wedding date.

i. You may cancel your order without penalty, provided the cancellation request is in writing 30 days before the event. Any cancellation done within 30 days will result in the forfeit of your 50% deposit.

ii. Cake consultations (cake tastings) are offered to anyone interested in using Sweetwood Bakery to cater their wedding event. Consultations are only offered for wedding cakes. The consultation date must be made 2 weeks in advance and are subject to availability. There is a $30 charge that allows up to 2 guests to attend a cake consultation and it is the bride and grooms responsibility to select no more than 3 flavors that they wish to sample from our menu. Cancellations and postponement of your date is possible, provided the request is made more than 48 hours in advance. Any request to cancel your tasting with less than 48 hour notice will result in the forfeit of your $30 deposit.  

B. Corporate Event. Please send an order request at least 2 weeks prior to the corporate event. Payment must be made prior to delivery, or upon pick up. 

C. Custom Design Cake. This includes all events that inquire of a specific custom design (elaborate birthday cakes, baby / bridal shower, graduation, etc.). Please order at least 2 weeks in advance as this greatly increases the chances of your order being fulfilled. 

D. Standard / Premium Orders. These cakes are more readily available and require at least a 48 hour notice. 

3. Delivery / Pick-up:

Sweetwood Bakery offers the options of pick-up or delivery. All pick-up orders must be picked up during our store hours and payment provided prior to, or upon pick-up. All deliveries must be paid in full before the date of the event. Failure to pay the entire balance will result in you cake not being delivered. 

A. Delivery Fee. A delivery fee will be charged based on the distance the event is from our location at 1679 Drew Street, Clearwater, FL 33755. 

B. Consumer's Responsibility Upon Pick-Up. When you choose to pick up one of your cakes, you assume all liability. Sweetwood Bakery is not responsible for any damages that may occur during the transport of your cake. We recommend that our desserts are kept out of direct sunlight during transportation. 

4. Disclaimers

Sweetwood Bakery operates in a facility that may contain milk, eggs, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts and soybeans. It is the responsibility of the consumer to notify Sweetwood Bakery of any major allergen concerns. They are also responsible for notifying the guests they are intending to serve. If the consumer is unsure about the contents of their desserts, they must not hesitate to ask. Sweetwood Bakery assumes no liability for allergic reactions due to negligence by the consumer. 

We will not, in any circumstances, share your personal information with other individuals or organizations without your permission, including public organizations, corporations or individuals, except when applicable by law. We do not sell, communicate or divulge your information to any mailing lists.
